My Blessing for the Second Sunday after Easter 2013 (Low Sunday aka Holy Humor Sunday)

My friends, our God has a sense of humor.

Our God created the world, full of surprises:  The land, the sky, the sun, the moon, the stars, the weather.
Our God created all the creatures of earth:  the weasel, the pelican, the storks, the bugs on the floor, and so much more.
Our God created us, all in God's image.  Short, tall, thin, fat, all shades of color and all ways of being.

Our God has a sense of humor.

Our God came to earth and lived with us.
Our God lived with us, and died with us, and lives with us again.
Our God played the biggest joke of all on death on that first Easter Day - a joke that we share with Thomas and all Jesus' followers some 2,000 years later.

Our God has a sense of humor.

Our God soars with eagles and sings with whales.
Our God celebrates as we praise with rhythm and singing and dance.
Our God sends us out to do the work we have been given to do, to share the Good News of Jesus with all we meet.

And the blessing of God, Creator, Redeemer, and Giver of Life, be with you and remain among you always.
